Pol Espargaro On His Brother's Blunder At The Barcelona MotoGP: Aleix Must Be Very Focused
JAKARTA - Repsol Honda racer, Pol Espargaro, commented on his brother's blunder, Aleix Espargaro, at the Barcelona MotoGP. He said, Aleix must be very focused at that time.
Aleix Espargaro lost the podium at the Catalunya Circuit after committing a fatal error. When the race was left with one lap, the Spaniard was already waving to the crowd and thinking of finishing on the second podium.
However, he only realized that the race was not over after seeing the rider behind him still speeding up. As a result he was overtaken by Jorge Martin, Johann Zarco and Joan Mir.
Luca Marini also briefly overtook Aleix Espargaro, but the Aprilia Racing driver managed to reclaim his position. He also had to finish in fifth position.
"You can laugh at it, but I've made mistakes like that before. It's just that I wasn't in front of the race at that time. That's why no one saw it," said Pol Espargaro, as quoted by Speedweek.
Pol said, this is common and experienced by many riders. The reason is, the riders can be so focused that they don't pay attention to the information given by the team crew on the pit boards or screens along the track.
"Aleix must be very focused because he has had a fantastic race so far. He needs to remember, he is the second fastest rider. So I am sure he will come back stronger," said Pol.
Aleix Espargaro himself had previously stated, this was his fault. He admitted that he lost focus and did not remember the remaining laps in the Barcelona MotoGP.
