Bathing In The Waiha River, Two Teens Drowning Haven't Been Found

JAKARTA - Two teenagers, residents of Kodi Balaghar Subdistrict, Southwest Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, were reported missing after drowning while bathing in the Waiha River, Kodi District.

The head of the Kupang Class A Search and Rescue Office, Emi Frizer, quoted Antara, Sunday, June 5 as saying that the incident that happened to the two teenagers was discovered by Basarnas Kupang after receiving information from the Head of the Kodi Bangedo Police, Aris.

He said the search operation was carried out by the Basarnas team from the Waingapu SAR Post, East Sumba Regency, but until the evening the two victims had not been found.

Two teenagers who were reported missing drowned while bathing in the Waiha river, Kodi Balaghar sub-district, namely Stefanus Jaka Dana (17) and Yanto (16).

"After we received the report from the Kodi Bangedo Police Chief, we immediately mobilized the SAR team from the Waingapu SAR Post to the location of the incident in Southwest Sumba Regency to conduct a search operation," said Emi Friezer.

According to Emi Friezer, the search operation was carried out by the SAR team starting at 17.30 WITA but as of 18.30 the two victims had not been found.

"The search operation for the first day was still in vain and the search was continued Monday, June 6 with the search location still around the scene where the two victims drowned.
