New Calls Tab In Messenger Coming To IOS And Android Users
JAKARTA - Meta adds a new Calls tab globally in the Messenger app for iOS and Android users. This tab will track every call the user makes or receives in the app in one place.
The Calls tab also makes it easy for users to connect calls with a single tap. A new Calls tab will appear next to the Chats, Stories and People tabs in the bottom navigation bar of the app. Clicking a new tab will open the user's contact list.
Prior to this change, users had to open a thread with a friend to call them. The new tab makes this process easier by allowing users to contact their friends directly.
In addition, with this tab, users can use the application for voice or video calls in addition to text-based messaging.
Meta says audio and video calls on Messenger have grown rapidly with more than 40 percent of daily callers now compared to early 2020.
The company also says there are more than 300 million audio and video calls globally on Messenger every day.
Furthermore, the new Calls tab was designed and created by Meta's Remote Presence org, which is the product and platform team responsible for the suite of video and audio calling experiences that support Meta Technologies.
According to TechCrunch, Friday, June 3, Meta admits, the new Calls tab is one of many features designed to create space for people to deepen their relationships with others.
The tech giant has been working on improving Messenger over the past few months and rolling out a number of new features.
In March, the company added new features and shortcuts, including the Slack-like "@everyone" tagging functionality that notifies all participants in a chat about a new message.
Also added "/silent" functionality. When a user types “/silent” before sending a message in a group chat, group members will not receive any notification of their message at all.
