Mukomuko Bengkulu Regency Government Delays Inauguration Of 64 Elected Candidates As Village Heads

MUKOMUKO - The government of Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu, postponed the inauguration of 64 elected candidates in the simultaneous village head elections (pilkades) this year even though it has determined the schedule for their inauguration as village heads.

"The inauguration will be postponed to next week. If it is according to schedule, it will be on June 2, 2022 because the old inauguration is on June 3, meaning the decree is effective as of the inauguration," said Head of the Mukomuko Regency Village and Community Empowerment Service in Mukomuko, Antara, Monday, May 30.

A total of 64 of the 148 villages in this area have completed voting and counting votes in the simultaneous village head elections on 17 May 2022.

However, out of 64 villages, there are two villages whose pilkades disputes have not been resolved, namely Bukit Mulya Village and Lalang Luas Village.

Although there are still two out of 64 villages whose disputes over the village head election have not been resolved, he said, the inauguration of candidates for village heads in villages that are not in dispute will still be carried out.

Specifically for the inauguration of village head candidates in areas whose pilkades disputes have not been resolved, he said that his party was waiting for the results of the decisions of the district level pilkades team and committee. The team that will decide the village head election dispute in these two villages.

Meanwhile, the level of community participation in village head elections or pilkades in 64 villages in this area reached 80 percent of the 98 percent target with a permanent voter list (DPT) of 51,866 people.

According to him, the voter participation rate for the Pilkades in 64 villages this year is lower than the participation rate for the simultaneous Pilkades in 47 villages in 2021 of 86 percent.

The decline, he said, was because there were still many residents who had not returned from going home. In addition, because the implementation coincided with work days and school days, they did not exercise their right to vote in the Pilkades.

"Perhaps students as novice voters cannot exercise their right to vote because they enter school. Likewise, state civil servants and company employees are at work," he said.
