Niantic Builds Campfire App To Help Pokemon Go Players Share Experiences
JAKARTA - Since the launch of Pokemon Go in 2016, players have used Reddit or Discord to coordinate meetings.
Niantic eventually created Campfire, which is a social app for the real-world metaverse, and helps players discover new people, places, and experiences for them.
Niantic games encourage players to use their technology and go out to meet other people. That's why it's called the "real world metaverse," and Campfire was created to make that easier.
The time has finally come! Lightship VPS is officially here, giving devs the tools they need to build the real-world metaverse Be sure to try out Lightship VPS and tag us, @nianticlabs and @nianticeng in your creations. pic.twitter.com/olP79fjizm

Campfire is part of a new line of AR products launched, besides that there is also a Lightship Visual Positioning System (VPS).
Lightship VPS allows developers to position and orient their users and tether AR content with centimeter-level precision for real-world immersive AR on a global scale.
"At the Summit, we opened the Lightship Visual Positioning System (VPS) to developers everywhere, with over 30,000 VPS-enabled public locations available immediately and a new app for developers to quickly add their own locations to our dynamic AR world map." says the Lightship Team on the Niantic website.
Currently, VPS is available in more than 30,000 locations with densities in six major cities, namely San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, London, and Tokyo.
This location isn't just a street view or public landmark, it's a collection of publicly accessible places that includes parks, trails, landmarks, local businesses, and more.
By the end of the year, Lightship VPS will be available in more than 100 global cities. With the help of Niantic's recent 8th Wall acquisition, these features will also be available on mobile web browsers.
