Immigration Officially Issues Visa On Arrival For GPDRR Forum Delegates In Bali

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) issued visas on arrival (VOA) for foreign delegates at the 7th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) held in Bali.

"Delegates can enter Indonesian territory through the Soekarno Hatta Airport Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) and Ngurah Rai Airport TPI in Bali," said Sub-Coordinator of Public Relations of the Directorate General of Immigration Kemenkumham Achmad Nur Saleh in a written statement quoted by Antara, Thursday, May 26.

He explained that in order to obtain the VOA facility, the 2022 GPDRR delegation must attach a number of requirements, namely a passport (diplomatic passport/service passport/ordinary passport), return ticket or canal ticket to continue traveling to other countries.

Next, proof of payment of non-tax state revenue (PNBP) for a visit visa upon arrival, proof of insurance ownership in accordance with the provisions of the COVID-19 Task Force Chair, and an invitation letter to attend The 7th GPDRR issued by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

GPDRR is a biennial multi-stakeholder forum initiated by the United Nations (UN) to review progress, share knowledge, and discuss developments in disaster risk management (DRR).

The number of representatives from member countries who attended this year's GPDRR was 193 people. In addition, as many as 77 foreign journalists have also applied for visas and 33 of them have entered Indonesian territory.

"Some journalists cannot enter because they cannot show the registration results or the data is incomplete," he said.

One of the main objectives of holding the GPDRR is to discuss efforts to reduce disaster risk towards sustainable resilience. Not only that, this activity is also a forum for UN members to share information related to mitigation, and steps to reduce disaster risk in the future.

He added that the involvement of the Directorate General of Immigration in the 2022 GPDRR was one of the important points for the appointment of the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) as a member of the trial and registration field.

One of the roles of the Minister of Law and Human Rights is to carry out the registration process including immigration and consular participation of participants. The appointment is based on Presidential Decree No. 20 of 2021.
