The suspect, whose identity is withheld, is accused of administering lethal sleeping pills to his daughter in her 30s at their home in Incheon, about 40 kilometers west of Seoul, South Korea at 4:30 p.m. Monday earlier this week.

Then, the suspect tried to kill himself, also by taking sleeping pills, but was found by his son, when he visited his apartment six hours later, before he was rushed to the hospital, police said, according to The Korea Times May 24.

The woman, who was detained after regaining consciousness, reportedly told police she wanted to end her life after giving her daughter sleeping pills.

His late daughter was reported to have suffered from severe brain disorders since birth. Recently, the princess was diagnosed with colon cancer.

The suspect is said to have cared for his daughter for more than 30 years while living apart from her husband, who traveled to other areas to earn a living.
