JAKARTA – The men's doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin want their journey at the 2021 SEA Games Hanoi to not only be limited to the semifinals. The clear target is a gold medal.

Leo/Danies have entered the semifinals, Friday, May 20. The second seed qualified after playing three games with representatives of Thailand, Chaloempon Charoenkitamorn/Nanthakarn Yordphaisong. They won 21-15, 17-21 and 21-15

To advance to the final, Leo/Daniel must pass the host's representative, Tuan Duc Do/Hong Nam Pham.

"We want to try to get to the final. Although it is not easy, but we try to play optimally in every match," Daniel said in a written statement received by VOI, after the match.

"Tomorrow you must not be afraid even if you are against the host. You cannot lose from the start. We will fight for the name of Indonesia," said Daniel.

Indonesia sent a total of seven representatives to the semifinals. The men's doubles, women's singles, and mixed doubles numbers each sent two representatives, followed by one representative for women's doubles.

In the men's doubles, Leo/Daniel was accompanied by the first winner of the pair Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan.

Pramudya / Jeremiah will meet the pair Hei Yong Kai Terry / Loh Kean Hean from Singapore after stopping the double step of the Philippines, Solomon Jr. Padiz/Julius Villabrille two straight games 21-17, 21-14.

In the women's singles, the two representatives who qualified were Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Putri Kusuma Wardani. Gregoria will meet Phittayaporn Chaiwan (Thailand), while Putri KW will meet first seed Pornpawee Chochuwong.

Meanwhile, the two mixed doubles representatives are Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari and Adnan Maulana/Mychelle Crhystine Bandoso. The only women's doubles are Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Ramadhanti.
