Samsung Provides Fridge Door Panels With Special Images, Perfect For Campaigns
JAKARTA - Samsung is adding a new and highly exploitable customization option to its Bespoke (two-door) range of refrigerators. Sling the company 500 US dollars (IDR 7.3 million) and you can have a photo or image you like printed on the door of the two-door refrigerator.
Shoppers can also choose their favorite artwork, children's doodles, or just put your own face on the fridge, for no reason at all.
This option is rolling out to shoppers sometime later this year, and if you already have your own fridge, then you can order just this printable image. You can even order the door panels separately or swap them out. It costs 250 US dollars (IDR 3.6 million) per panel. Samsung says that this print only took about 8 weeks to print and ship.
The Bespoke line of refrigerators is heavily marketed by Samsung for its modularity and adaptability. Previously, however, you could only choose from a limited selection of colors and a few prints. In the UK, for example, you can buy units emblazoned with the Union Jack.
VOIR éGALEMENT:
Giving customers the option to add any image they like will almost certainly lead to a very, very ugly fridge in someone else's kitchen. But that is part of the charm of the feature for certain people.
Samsung stated that it will also moderate images requested by customers with a combination of automatic filters and human review. They will look for copyright infringement and explicit images, before this goes wild.
In Indonesia, this refrigerator may be given a picture of a person or a presidential candidate as a way to campaign.
