Having Decreased Impact Of COVID-19, Regent Of Gunung Mas, Central Kalimantan Targets 27,741 Children To Be Immunized

GUNUNG MAS - Gunung Mas Regent Jaya S. Monong is targeting 27,741 children aged nine months to 12 years in the area to be targeted for immunization during the 2022 National Child Immunization Month (BIAN).

"The target is an effort to pursue immunization, which was not running optimally due to the COVID-19 pandemic," he said during the launching of BIAN in Kuala Kurun, Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan Province, Antara, Thursday, May 19.

Based on data from the Gunung Mas Regency Government, there was a significant decrease in immunization coverage due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The low immunization coverage has an impact on the emergence of extraordinary events (KLB) a number of diseases that can actually be prevented by immunization.

He said that in order to prevent outbreaks of disease in children, routine immunization was needed. The program for providing additional immunizations to children through BIAN 2022 for 30 working days.

"I hope this activity can provide encouragement for parents with children aged nine months to 12 years, so that they can actively participate in accompanying children to take part in BIAN," said Jaya.

In order to achieve the target of 100 percent of child immunization in the local area, he admitted that he would directly monitor several villages/kelurahan. This monitoring is also to ensure that BIAN runs well, safely and smoothly.

He asked health workers to immediately coordinate with related parties if they encounter obstacles in the field during the implementation of the BIAN, so that solutions can be immediately found to overcome them.

On this occasion, Jaya and his wife, Mimie Mariatie, also took the time to accompany their baby to take part in BIAN.

He hopes that parents will not hesitate to bring their children to follow BIAN.

Head of the Gunung Mas District Health Office, Arnold, said that BIAN was carried out in various health service facilities, such as health centers, sub-health centers, and government hospitals.

"BIAN can also be carried out at service posts, such as service posts at schools, integrated service posts, in the field, 'drive thru' (services without dropping off), implementation of 'mobile' immunization (moving), and other mobile health services," said Arnold.
