Three Houses In Kemayoran Catch Fire, Firefighters Find It Difficult To Access Narrow Roads
JAKARTA - Three semi-permanent houses were burned by fire on Jalan Kemayoran Gempol, RT 08/06, Kebon Blank Village, Kemayoran District, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, May 18.
Residents reported the fire incident to the Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. since 10.10 WIB. Based on information from residents, the fire came from one of the residents' houses which had been abandoned for a while.
Then other residents heard an explosion from inside the house. The fire grew and spread to other semi-permanent buildings.
Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. officers deployed 15 cars to the fire location with 60 firefighters.
"The fire suppression process was completed at 11.05 WIB. From the results of the preliminary investigation, it is suspected that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit," said Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Asril Rizal, Wednesday, May 18.
The process of extinguishing the fire also had problems because the traffic flow to access the location was in a traffic jam.
In addition to traffic flow which is an obstacle to the process of extinguishing the fire, access to the narrow alleyway to the location is also an obstacle.
"Semi-permanent housing materials and electricity are still on, that's an obstacle," he said.
The fire scorched the building area of about 225 square meters. Losses are estimated at Rp. 225 million rupiah.
