108 Buddhist Prisoners In Riau Archipelago Get Remission
JAKARTA - The Regional Office of the Riau Islands Ministry of Law and Human Rights said that 108 inmates and children scattered in the Detention Center/LPKA work units received Special Remissions for Vesak Day.
"Special remissions are remissions given to prisoners and children during Religious Holidays," said Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Riau Islands, Saffar Muhammad Godam through the Head of the Dwinastiti Correctional Division in Tanjungpinang, Monday, May 16, quoted from Antara.
The granting of the remission is a form of the state being present by giving awards for all positive achievements for prisoners and children and having met the requirements that have been set.
Special Vesak remissions are given to Buddhist prisoners and children who have met administrative and substantive requirements, including having good behavior or not being registered in register F (the record book for inmates' disciplinary violations), then having served a minimum sentence of 6 months and 3 months for children, and actively participate in coaching programs in prisons/LPKA/detention centers.
"The amount of remission given varies, ranging from 15 days, 1 month, 1 month 15 days to 2 months. No one gets special remission II or is immediately free," he said.
