Police Alleged Ardiansyah Bus Driver Was Drowsy, Causing Single Accident And Killed 13 Passengers
JAKARTA - The single accident of Ardiansyah bus at KM 712+400 line A of the Surabaya-Mojokerto toll road, this morning at 06.15 western Indonesia time, resulted in 13 deaths and 12 serious injuries.
Head of the East Java Police Highway Patrol Unit, Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police Dwi Sumrahadi, explained that the Ardiansyah bus with plate number S-7322-UW carrying 25 people had an accident on the way from Yogyakarta to Surabaya.
The bus was traveling at a moderate speed in the slow lane. When arriving at KM 712+200/A the vehicle swerved to the left and hit a message pole (Variable Message Sign/VMS) on the side of the toll road so that it rolled over.
"As a result of this incident 12 people were seriously injured and 13 people died," said the middle-ranking police officer, Monday, May 16, quoted from Antara.
Police officers have evacuated the victims of the accident, and brought the dead and injured to the hospital.
In addition, the police conduct an investigation of the crime scene and collect information to investigate the cause of the accident.
Dwi suspected that the accident occurred because the driver was sleepy.
According to residents, the bus that had an accident was carrying a group of West Surabaya residents who traveled to Dieng and Yogyakarta from May 14 to 15, 2022.
