Commission II Of DPR Wants Campaign Duration To Be Only 75 Days, Virtual 15 Days And The Rest Is The Meeting
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR, Junimart Girsang, said that the efficiency of the 2024 election campaign proposed by the DPR Commission II for 75 days was due to considering the transition from pandemic to endemic.
"The House of Representatives Commission II conveyed in a consignment meeting with election organizers and the government, that the campaign period is only 75 days taking into account the time and budget. The campaign period is because we are still in transition from a pandemic to endemic so for a physical campaign of 60 days and virtual 15 days," said Junimart, Monday, May 16, quoted from Antara.
In the DPR Commission II consignment meeting with election organizers and the government, the KPU explained that the 2024 election campaign period was 90 days.
This, he said, was based on the time allocation for the fulfillment of election logistics such as the manufacture and validation of print-ready ballot designs by the provider for 5 days.
"Then the mass printing approval by the KPU is 5 days, the production of printing ballots at the factory is 30 days; distribution to the provincial, regency/city KPU is 30 days; folding sorting and packing from the regency/city KPU to TPS is 20 days," he said.
However, according to him, in the meeting, Commission II of the DPR expressed an opinion that the campaign period is sufficient for 75 days by considering the efficiency of election time and budget.
He said that the efficiency of the campaign period will have an impact on various things, so Commission II of the DPR provides notes for election organizers to prepare carefully.
Junimart gave an example that the KPU needs to set a careful time for printing ballots and not focus on one company for printing them.
