At NU Event, Gerindra DKI Prays For Airin To Be The Governor Of Jakarta To Replace Anies Baswedan

JAKARTA - DKI Gerindra Party politician Muhammad Taufik prays for the former Mayor of South Tangerang City, Airin Rachmi Diany, to become the Governor of DKI Jakarta for the next period, replacing Anies Baswedan.

Anies' term in DKI is known to expire in 2022. Next, the Acting Governor will take over the leadership. The new governor of DKI will be re-elected from the results of the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada).

"Please pray for Airin to lead Jakarta," said the Deputy Chair of the 2014-2022 DKI Jakarta DPRD when attending the North Jakarta Nahdhatul Ulama (PCNU) Branch Manager with Golkar Party Politician Airin Rachmi Diany in Jakarta, Sunday, May 15.

Taufik admits that so far, several times the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial candidate he brought to North Jakarta has always won the Pilkada

"Mr. Anies, we start from North Jakarta, Mr. Jokowi is carried from North Jakarta, they all won, right? My function was carrying, I was carrying Jokowi, carrying Mr. Anies, and now Mrs. Airin," said Taufik.

Rais Syuriah, the Jakarta NU Regional Manager, KH Muhyidin Ishaq, said that the two-term mayor of South Tangerang received a warm welcome from the extended family of the North Jakarta branch of NU because she has a nahdliyin background.

"She (Airin) was previously the Mayor of South Tangerang. I think this is Mrs. Nyai Airin as well as from the NU family, her daughter from the NU Banten family who once made the secretariat of PWNU Banten which is so magnificent. Hopefully, in the future this can lead Jakarta," said KH Muhyidin Ishaq.

Therefore, Muhyidin advised Jakarta PWNU General Treasurer Mohamad Taufik to look for Airin's partner as a candidate for DKI Governor.

He believes that Taufik is able to find the best companion for Airin because he carries out the mandate as the People's Representative in the DKI Jakarta Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) from the Gerindra Party faction.

"That's Mr. Taufik's obligation," said Muhyidin.

Meanwhile, based on the Antara report, Airin said she was grateful for the trust given by Nahdlatul Ulama residents in North Jakarta.

"Hopefully this friendship will make me, who previously had no friends in North Jakarta, now have friends who know me," said Airin.

Regarding the contestation for the DKI Regional Head Election, Airin did not deny that she was motivated to run for office. But she cannot precede the decision of the Almighty.

"I always believe that Allah will definitely give anything at the right time and place," said Airin.

Airin said that she had participated in the general election several times, both as a candidate for regional head and as a candidate's success team.

The experience taught him that to be selected, a potential contestant must have two parameters.

"The first parameter is support from the community, voting rights are in the hands of the community. Second, from support from political party figures," said Airin.

Currently, Airin has received orders from the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party to focus on making the party able to get tickets to nominate candidates in the Regional Head Elections from the results of the legislative and presidential, and vice-presidential elections which will be held simultaneously in February 2024.

After the legislature is elected, both at the central, provincial, district, and city levels, only then can the party determine which candidates will be brought forward to the Pilkada.

"Because once again, apart from the public liking the instruments and support from the party. So whether it is easy or not for someone to contest in the Pilkada depends on the 2024 Pilleg in February," said Airin.
