Mojokerto Regency Government Sterilization Of Animal Markets Anticipating PMK

MOJOKERTO - The Mojokerto Regency Government of East Java has sterilized the animal market as an effort to anticipate the spread of the mouth and nail disease (PMK) epidemic.

Mojokerto Regent Ikfina Fahmawati accompanied by Mojokerto Police Chief AKBP Apip Ginanjar conducted a review of the animal market sterilization process in Ngrame Village, Pungging District, Wednesday, May 11.

"We are trying to put a brake on this transmission process while also immediately identifying the mapping of all livestock groups in Mojokerto Regency, because this disease has an incubation period of up to two weeks," he said.

The regent said that in anticipating the spike in transmission of FMD in cattle, the Mojokerto Regency Government through the Department of Agriculture (Disperta) took quick action in anticipating the transmission of cattle in Mojokerto Regency.

Regarding the findings of FMD cases starting from May 3, 2022, the government continues to monitor the development of cattle affected by FMD during the incubation period. Actually, during the incubation period, cows infected with FMD can recover on their own.

"We will take quick action on the infected cows, in order to speed up the healing process. So if the infected, get immediate treatment, by injecting medicine, and being given vitamins, their condition will be better," he said.

The Regent of Mojokerto explained that because this disease has a low mortality serotype, mortality is still relatively minimal compared to the number of infected cattle population.

Based on data from the Department of Agriculture (Disperta) of Mojokerto Regency as of May 10, 2022, the total number of animal cases infected with FMD reached 622 cases, with details of 607 cases in beef cattle and 15 cases in dairy cattle.
