10 Members Of Muara Enim DPRD Inactive Sued 4 Years In Prison
PALEMBANG - A total of 10 inactive members of the Muara Enim Regency DPRD were sentenced to four years in prison in connection with the alleged corruption case at the PUPR Service with a total value of Rp. 2.6 billion.
Inactive members of the Muara Enim DPRD who are undergoing trial for prosecution are Indra Gani, Ishak Joharsah, Ari Yoca Setiadi, Ahmad Reo K, Marsito, Mardiansah, Muhardi, Fitrianzah, Subahan and Piardi.
"We hereby demand that the panel of judges hearing this case sentence each of the defendants to imprisonment for four years and a fine of Rp. 200 million with a subsidiary of six months," said KPK Public Prosecutor Rikhi B Magnaz in the Palembang District Court, South Sumatra was reported by Antara, Wednesday, May 11.
The prosecutor stated that the claim was in accordance with Article 12 letter a of Law Number 31 of 1999 which was changed to Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes Jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
In addition, the prosecutor also demanded that the political rights of the defendants be revoked for five years, starting from the time the defendants finished serving their basic criminal sentences.
According to Rikhi, the defendants who are currently being held at the Class IA Pakjo Palembang detention house have received a 'fee' with a total value of Rp. 2.6 billion related to the procurement of goods and services at the PUPR Office of Muara Enim Regency in 2019.
Rikhi emphasized that based on the evidence clarified through the statements of witnesses during the trial, the defendants were legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing acts against the law as stated in the article charged against them.
Meanwhile, the trial this time was presided over by Chief Justice Efrata Happy Tarigan. The trial will be resumed on Tuesday (18/5) next week, with the agenda of reading the pleas from the defendants through their respective legal advisers at the Palembang District Court.
