Pertamina Records BBM Demand During Eid Homecoming Soared By 58 Percent
JAKARTA - PT Pertamina noted that there was a spike in demand for fuel oil (BBM) during the Lebaran homecoming period of 58 percent.
Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati revealed that the demand for BBM experienced a very significant increase, namely around 43 percent to 58 percent which occurred on the Trans Java Toll Road, Pantura Line (non-toll road) and South Java Line (non-toll) at peak traffic flows. going home.
"In general, the stock and distribution of BBM is currently safe and running smoothly. Pertamina guarantees that all BBM services, especially Solar, Pertalite, Pertamax and Avtur are in normal condition," Nicke said in a written statement, Monday 9 May.
Nicke said that during the 2022 Idul Fitri homecoming, there was no shortage of fuel.
This is because Pertamina optimizes all infrastructure in an integrated manner from upstream to downstream, starting from production and refinery operations, ship transportation to distribution to gas stations.
"There is no shortage, everything can be fulfilled. We monitor everything, such as trains, planes and logistics vehicles. Thank God we can fulfill everything," said Nicke.
He added that the increase in sales also occurred in Avtur, where the highest increase occurred at the peak of the homecoming flow on April 28, 2022, which reached 33 percent.
The peak of backflow is estimated to occur from 6-8 May 2022 with a prediction of a 24 percent increase in Avtur sales compared to the normal average.
Pertamina also took advantage of the momentum of the minimal road conditions for travelers to build up the stock of gas stations and avoid fuel tank cars getting stuck in traffic jams.
"We are also synergizing with the local police to escort tanker cars when conditions are jammed or require contra flow," said Nicke.
Nicke added that Pertamina also continues to monitor 7,200 gas stations on the main route for going home, tourist routes, and routes that are prone to disasters.
In total there are around 1,452 gas stations that are closely monitored based on these 3 criteria.
"We have secured the stock properly, then we added it with pocket gas stations, so we have a tank car ready there, so that when there is an increase in demand we can add it," explained Nicke.
For rest areas where there are no gas stations, Pertashop installations, standby tank cars procurement and also fuel delivery services with motorists are carried out.
"This is very helpful because these motorbikes are allowed to enter the toll road, because they are guarded by the police," said Nicke.
Meanwhile, Director General of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tutuka Ariadji, appreciated Pertamina's efforts in ensuring the availability and distribution of fuel for the community.
This success cannot be separated from the efforts of both Pertamina's management and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources who carried out direct field visits during Ramadan and Eid as well as monitoring through PIEDCC.
"We greatly appreciate Pertamina assisting the government in distributing energy so that yesterday's homecoming flow was smooth, comfortable, and did not see shortages, even though we saw queues because it was a big spike," said Tutuka.
