Three Tourists From Surakarta Were Dragged By The Waves Of Soge Beach, Pacitan
PACITAN - Three tourists from Surakarta were reported to have been swept away by the waves while playing in the water at Soge Beach, Pacitan, East Java, on Tuesday, May 3. One of them died, while the other two were rescued.
"This dead victim intends to save two of his colleagues who were swept away by the waves, but instead were dragged into the middle, while he could not swim," said Ngadirojo Police Chief Kompol Nursalim as reported by Antara, Wednesday, May 4.
He explained that the two survivors were still undergoing treatment at the Darsono Hospital, Pacitan.
Their condition, he said, is starting to stabilize, but they still need treatment due to shortness of breath and trauma.
Nursalim explained that the victim died on behalf of Apriliyanto Dwicahyanto (31), a resident of Surakarta, Central Java. The victim's body was transported to the place of origin by ambulance for burial.
The incident occurred at around 16.00 WIB, starting when the victims Rizal Ramudya Iskandar (23) and Schevalino Natanevra Iskandar (13) playing in the water at Soge Beach. A moment later the two were swept away.
Knowing the incident, the victim Apriliyanto spontaneously tried to help. He ran to the middle of the sea to grab Rizal and Schevalino's bodies.
Apriliyanto, who could not swim, was dragged by the waves into the middle of the sea and drowned.
Knowing that three tourists were swept away by the waves, the security guard at Soge Beach was quick to help Schevalino and Apriliyanto by swimming and bringing the victims to the beach.
Apriliyanto was evacuated unconscious and declared dead after arriving at the Ngadirojo Health Center.
Meanwhile, Rizal was helped by fishermen from Watu Bale Beach by boat and landed at the fishing port of Watu Bale.
