'Social Solidarity In The Time Of The COVID-19 Pandemic' Becomes The Theme Of The Eid Prayer Sermon That Jokowi Attends In Yogya

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) performs Eid prayers at the Great Yogyakarta Building with his family, Monday, May 2.

The agenda for the Eid prayer was conveyed by the Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono when confirmed by reporters.

"(President Jokowi will pray Eid al-Fitr, ed) at the Jogja Palace (Gedung Agung, ed). (Pray together, ed) with the family," said Heru in a written statement to reporters followed on Monday, May 2.

Heru said the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) H. Masmin Afif would act as the imam in the Eid prayer. Not only that, Masmin will also deliver a sermon.

The sermon, continued Heru, will have the theme 'Social Solidarity in the Time of the COVID-19 Pandemic'.

Previously, President Jokowi and the first lady, Iriana, had congratulated Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah.

"With all humility, my family and I wish you a Happy Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijri. Sorry to be born and inner heart," said President Jokowi in a video shown on the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube channel on Sunday, May 1.

"I also wish you a Happy Eid, sorry to be born and inner heart," said Mrs. Iriana.

Both expressed their gratitude because this year people can go home and gather with their families in their hometowns.

"Alhamdulillah, this year's Eid we have been able to gather with family, meet parents, relatives, and relatives in our hometown," said the President.
