Heavy Vehicles Are Prohibited From Passing On The Cianjur Main Line To Prevent Traffic Congestion
CIANJUR - The main route in Cianjur, West Java, is closed to heavy vehicles during the homecoming period until the return flow of Lebaran 2022 because according to the provisions only certain heavy vehicles such as transporting fuel and basic necessities are allowed to pass.
Cianjur Police Chief, AKBP Doni Hermawan said during the homecoming and return of Eid, heavy vehicles could not pass on the main route from Puncak to Cianjur, as an effort to prevent queues.
"Heavy vehicles during the holiday are not allowed to pass on the Puncak-Cianjur route, temporarily diverted to the Jonggol alternative route. Only heavy transportation carrying basic necessities and fuel can pass," he said as quoted by Antara, Saturday, April 30.
The prohibition of heavy vehicles from entering the main route of going home during the holiday, in order to avoid total traffic jams because the speed of heavy vehicles will not be maximized when crossing the Puncak-Cipanas route, which can cause long queues.
His party will also prepare parking pockets for heavy vehicles that force themselves to pass because for one week after the holiday, heavy vehicles are still forbidden to operate and pass on the main Cianjur route.
"This prohibition is valid until the end of the return flow one week after the holiday, while parking bags will be prepared for those who force themselves to cross so as not to hinder the flow of homecoming traffic," he said.
Doni added, entering the D-2 of Eid, the volume of homecoming vehicles passing on the main and alternative routes of Cianjur, continues to increase, especially in the morning and evening. At some points prone to traffic jams, such as Cipanas Market and Ciranjang, the queues could be seen but did not extend.
"Various anticipatory efforts including flow engineering will be carried out, but currently, although there has been an increase in the volume of traveling homecoming vehicles, it has not caused significant congestion, the parsing team plus officers at each PAM post are alerted to regulate traffic flow," he said.
