2022 Asian Badminton Championships: Jonatan Christie Follows Chico, KW's Women Depak Representative Of Korea
JAKARTA - Two Indonesian singles, Jonatan Christie and Putri Kusuma Wardani, confirmed their move to the second round of the 2022 Asian Badminton Championships. Both followed Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo and Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi who had already qualified.
Jonathan Christie won a ticket to the second round after defeating Sai Praneeth on Wednesday, 27 April. Competing at Muntinlupa Sports Complex, Manila, Philippines, the fourth seed won two straight games.
In the first game, Jonathan Christie won with a score of 21-17. The mainstay of Indonesia's men's singles then closed the second game with 21-13.
In the next round, the player who is familiarly called Jojo will face the winner of the match between Heo Kwanghee versus Liew Daren.
Meanwhile, in another match, Putri KW managed to get rid of the Korean representative, Kim Gaeun. However, this victory did not come easily.
He had to play three games before ending Kim's fight. Putri KW won with a score of 10-21, 21-12 and 21-15 after playing for 43 minutes.
In the next round, Putri KW was waiting for a tough opponent. He had to face the sixth seed from Thailand, Pornpawee Chochuwing.
