After Realizing And Seeing His Son Often Cry, This Man Finally Removed The Tattoos All Over His Body
JAKARTA - Hermanto, a resident of Sawah Besar Subdistrict, visited the Al-Fauz Mosque, in the Gambir area, Central Jakarta. The arrival of the man with tattoos all over his body to take part in the tattoo removal program in the holy month of Ramadan 2022.
"I've had this tattoo for 15 years. I used to do this as part of it," he told reporters, Tuesday, April 26.
Hermanto admitted that he had 7 tattoos on his body.
"My tattoos are pictures of flowers, dragons, birds and writings," he said.
He also said he was happy with this free tattoo removal activity. Because Hermanto was getting old and he was embarrassed by the image on his body.
"I chose to remove the tattoo because I thought I was old, and it didn't seem appropriate to draw pictures on my body," he said.
He said that when he was at home, especially when he had a daughter and son-in-law, Hermanto began to feel embarrassed.
"Seeing his tattooed father crying and embarrassed. It was there that I removed the tattoo. Moreover, I used to like drinking, I wanted to live properly," he said.
Head of Baznas Bazis Central Jakarta, Subarna, said that his party took the initiative to provide tattoo removal services to help underprivileged communities in terms of costs.
"If he is independent (removing tattoos) the cost is relatively expensive, what about people whose financial condition is only sufficient for daily life. So then that is what is facilitated," he said.
He said the removal of this tattoo is to respond to people who have a desire to remove tattoos.
"We know that when they make a tattoo with all the limitations of their thinking. So suddenly in the course of their life, maybe guidance, advice, disappointment that keeps in their hearts," he said.
He added that the response from the community was very good regarding the free tattoo removal program.
"Initially the data was 50 people who were targeted for implementation, the last report from the Islamic medical center was 54 registrants," he said.
