Police Arrest 2 Carriers Of 6 Tons Of Illegal Pine Gum
BANDA ACEH - Southwest Aceh Police personnel arrested two people suspected of carrying illegal pine resin without official documents weighing up to six tons.
Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Aceh Police, Commissioner Sony Sonjaya, said the two people had the initials AYS (27) and LI (26).
"Both were arrested in the Ie Mirah area, Babah Rot District, Southwest Aceh Regency. Both were arrested while carrying six tons of pine resin without official documents", said Commissioner Sony, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 26.
The arrests began with information from the public who reported that the transportation of pine sap was suspected to be illegal using trucks.
From this information, said Commissioner Sony, the Southwest Aceh Police Resmob team patrolled and found a truck with a tarpaulin-covered tailgate.
The Southwest Aceh Police Resmob team inspected the truck and found jute filled with pine resin with an estimated total weight of six tons.
"The Resmob team then checked AYS and LI and checked the transportation documents. When they were checked, they couldn't show the official documents for the transportation of pine resin", said Commissioner Sony.

Currently, said Commissioner Sony, the two perpetrators along with evidence in the form of a truck and pine resin weighing six tons were secured at the Southwest Aceh Police for further legal proceedings.
The police reminded the public not to transport pine resin without a valid permit. The transportation of the pine sap became the attention of the police.
"The smuggling of raw pine resin out of Aceh is detrimental to local revenue. People who see or know of pine resin smuggling should report it to the police", he said.
