Gorontalo Prison Last Night Was Suddenly Searched, There Were Razor, Cables And Scissors

JAKARTA - Joint forces from prison officials, the Gorontalo Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, TNI, Polri and Gorontalo Province BNN conducted a search at the Class IIA Gorontalo Prison, Tuesday, April 19 evening.

Head of the Correctional Division of the Gorontalo Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Bagus Kurniawan, explained that officers found various types of items that were not allowed to be in prison, such as fans, nails, razors, scissors, glass bottles, spoons, and cables.

"Thank God, there are no drugs and cellphones," said Bagus in Gorontalo, Wednesday, April 20 this morning, quoted from Antara.

He said the search was carried out in a safe, orderly and smooth manner. Currently, with a capacity of 330 people, the Class IIA Gorontalo Prison is filled with 480 people.

"So there is a percentage excess of about 10 percent of the existing number, it's not too crowded," he said.

Although it accommodates detainees from the Gorontalo Regional Police and four Polres, the contents of the Class IIA Gorontalo Prison are mostly inmates.

He said the Gorontalo Kemenkumham Regional Office received land assistance from the North Gorontalo Regional Government which could be built into a detention house or relocation.
