Eid Prayers Can Be Performed In Mosques Or Open Fields
JAKARTA - Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 Prof Wiku Adisasmito stated that the government allowed the implementation of Eid prayers in mosques or open fields by implementing health protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 on 1 Shawwal 1443 Hijri.
"According to the Circular Letter of the Ministry of Religion Number 8 of 2022, this year Muslims can carry out Eid al-Fitr, especially the Eid prayer 1 Shawwal 1443 Hijriah, in mosques and in open fields," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 19.
He emphasized that health protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, including wearing masks and keeping a distance, must be applied in carrying out Eid prayers in mosques and open fields.
Wiku appealed to residents to remain disciplined in carrying out health protocols in all activities, especially to protect vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and comorbid patients who have not been able to undergo the COVID-19 vaccination.
"Don't let us feel too safe to do things that risk causing a spike in cases. For that, I don't get tired of reminding that during this policy adjustment period it is our responsibility to remain disciplined in wearing masks, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and washing hands. be the main key so that the virus does not spread," he said.
