JAKARTA - Chelsea and Manchester City supporters reportedly clashed on the streets in the city of Madrid. The clash occurred before the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final between Chelsea and Real Madrid on Wednesday, April 13, early WIB.
The Sun reported that a fight between the two supporters' camps forced riot police to intervene to separate the two sides.
This shocking incident occurred in the Plaza Mayor square in the Spanish capital on Tuesday local time. The report did not mention any casualties or injuries.
As many as 8,000 supporters from both teams are expected to travel from England to Spain to watch the Champions League quarter-final clash.
Chelsea fans have arrived in Madrid to watch their favorite team take on the side from the Spanish capital. Meanwhile, The Citizen supporters came to support their team against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Thursday, April 14 early morning.
Video footage posted on social media shows supporters of the two teams facing each other while shouting and shouting slogans. This was followed by the throwing of bottles of water at each other before Madrid police stepped into the crowd to bring the atmosphere back to normal.
