Erick Thohir: Ultra Micro Holding Program Creates 7.1 New Jobs
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir claims that state-owned companies in the financial or banking sector are able to absorb at least 7.1 million new jobs.
"Through the PMN Mekaar program at the time of COVID-19, it opened 7.1 million new jobs in villages," said Erick at the launch of the 2022 BUMN Joint Recruitment Program, Tuesday, April 12.
Furthermore, Erick said, since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Indonesia in March 2020, at least 1.8 million jobs have been lost. Seeing this situation, Erick encouraged SOEs to be able to transform with the existing conditions and be able to create jobs.
"When COVID-19 there were 1.8 million jobs lost, the Ministry of BUMN and BUMN companies went through a transformation rather than BRI, Pegadaian, PNM which we consolidated," he said.
According to Erick, the success of opening 7.1 million jobs for the community cannot be separated from the synergy between state-owned companies.
"This is because earlier how the synergy of the ecosystem was built in the Ministry of SOEs through state-owned companies," he explained.
Previously reported, Erick Thohir said that the Mekaar Mothers Program, which previously had 5.6 million customers, now has 12.7 million customers, an increase of 7.1 million customers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Minister of SOEs expressed his appreciation to the people who have succeeded in opening up job opportunities so that they can help other communities during the current pandemic.
"Salute to the community's efforts to create job opportunities. Especially when the pandemic is not over. The Ministry of SOEs is here to help and assist," said Erick.
