Desperately Stealing Railroad Tracks, 2 Men From Binjai Arrested
MEDAN - The East Binjai Police Criminal Investigation Unit team arrested 2 men with the initials ARP (50) and ZM (41). Both were arrested for daring to steal 2 railroad tracks belonging to PT KAI at the Train Station, Tanah Tinggi Village, Binjai City, North Sumatra.
The Head of the East Binjai Police, AKP A Pardede, through the Head of Public Relations of the Binjai Police, Iptu Junaidi, said that the two iron rail tracks stolen by the perpetrators were 7 and 8 meters long, respectively.
Iptu Junaidi explained that the incident was first discovered when the reporter was contacted by a witness named Endri Heru Rinaldi who reported the theft of the rail metal, Thursday, April 7.
Hearing this information, the reporter moved to the location and saw that it was true that there was an iron theft of the railroad tracks. This case was reported to the leadership of the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA).
"Due to this incident, the DJKA suffered a loss of Rp 200 million and authorized the reporter to report the incident to the East Binjai Police," said Iptu Junaidi, Friday, April 8.
Furthermore, the Police Chief ordered the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Binjai Police to investigate.
"From the results of the investigation at the TKP, the Criminal Investigation Unit and members were able to find and secure the suspected ARP perpetrator along with evidence of 2 pieces of rail placed on a goods rickshaw," he explained.
Next, the police interrogated ARP and carried out developments. As a result, another perpetrator with the initials ZM was arrested.
"When he was about to be taken into custody, the person concerned tried to escape by riding a motorbike and tried to hit the officer. However, it was prevented, causing the perpetrator to fall. Subsequently, the two perpetrators were detained at the East Binjai Police for the investigation process," he said.
From the hands of the two perpetrators, the police confiscated 2 pieces of rail metal with a length of 8 and 7 meters respectively and 1 unit of goods tricycles.
"The two suspects are subject to the criminal act of theft as referred to in Article 363 paragraph (1) to 4e of the Criminal Code," he said.
