Residents Collect Goods From Drowning Trucks In Meulaboh Harbor, From Cigarettes To Washing Machines

MEULABOH - A number of residents collect various goods from a truck that fell on the dock of the Meulaboh Ferry Port, in the Gampong Cot Village area, Samatiga District, West Aceh Regency.

"The goods collected by these residents have been accepted by the truck owner," said Samatiga Police Chief Iptu Pipin Panggabean, quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 7.

There were also items taken by residents from the sea around the location of the sinking truck, including washing machines, various food and drinks, cigarettes, and a number of other grocery items.

Iptu Pipin Panggabean said the items that had been collected by the residents were temporarily stored in locations around the Meulaboh Ferry Port Complex, West Aceh.

This is at the same time to ensure that the goods that have been saved by the community, are truly confirmed by the owner of the goods as the owner of the truck that experienced the disaster.

The police and the TNI who were at the location also saw the action of collecting goods carried out by the community using a number of boats, which were then taken to the coast.

A number of residents also collected these items into sacks and then transported them using pickup trucks.

"So, for now, all of these items are secured first, so that later there will be no more problems in the future," said Iptu Pipin.
