Officially Launched, Unreal Engine 5 Is Ready For Game Developers Around The World To Use Now
JAKARTA - After two years since it was announced to the public, in the latest State of Unreal presentation, Tuesday, April 5, Unreal Engine 5 is now available worldwide for all developers.
As the name suggests, Unreal Engine 5 is the successor to Unreal Engine 4, which is currently widely used in triple-A (AAA) games. UE5 is now adopting new, more advanced technologies, which allow it to create quality visuals and 3D graphics that will make the game more realistic.
The use of Unreal Engine 5 technology has previously been showcased through the demo game The Matrix Awakens. In the content it is shown that a game engine can present visuals from animation like a big screen movie but in the form of a game
One of the newest technologies is Lumen. Lumen is claimed to make the lighting in the game look more real. Apart from that, there's also Nanite, which according to Epic allows developers to create games with a lot of geometric detail.

However, there are also practical features, such as a feature to divide the open world view of a game into small parts, which can make it easier for the development team to work on them separately.
There is also Temporal Super Resolution (TSR) technology, which allows the UE5 to upsampling low-resolution images with the same pixel accuracy as higher-resolution images. Thus, the TSR will produce a better image.
“Unreal Engine is like a toolbox that has many features, many solutions, already in place that allow teams to try new things,” said VFX and lighting art director, Jakub Knapik.
The fact that Unreal is already used by many teams around the world, a lot of perspectives are projected into the tool design, and it helps the tool to be much more agile. This helps in prototyping while quickly creating an environment that also looks very realistic.
Of course, using Unreal Engine 5 doesn't mean that the next Witcher will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store. No further details on the sequel were given, such as when it will be released, but it should arrive on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC down the line.
