Jokowi Orders Ministers To Stop Talking About Postponing Elections, MPR: Those Who Violate, Give Sanctions
JAKARTA - The MPR RI leadership welcomes President Joko Widodo's firm stance on asking ministers in his cabinet to stop issuing discourses on postponing elections and extending the presidential term. .
"President Jokowi's statement forbidding ministers to talk about postponing elections or extending (presidential term) is good," said Hidayat, Thursday, April 7.
But, according to him, the President's statement would be better if there were concrete steps from Jokowi's aides in obeying orders from superiors.
"And if someone violates it under any pretext, they will be given sanctions," said the PKS politician.
Previously, President Joko Widodo asked ministers not to make noise in the community. The former governor of DKI Jakarta asked his cabinet to focus on work.
"Don't cause polemics in the community, focus on working in overcoming the difficulties we face," said Jokowi when opening the Plenary Cabinet Session which was broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube on Wednesday, April 6.
The polemic that Jokowi is referring to is related to the postponement of the election and the extension of the president's term of office. Strictly speaking, the former mayor of Solo asked ministers not to speak again about postponing the election and extending the presidential term.
"Don't let anyone voice again regarding the issue of postponement, the issue of extension. No," he said.
