Bus Without Passengers Burned To The Ground At Pulogebang Terminal, Losses Reached IDR 500 Million

JAKARTA - A bus with license plate number B 7213 VGA with no passengers was burned at the Pulogebang Terminal, Pulogebang Village, Cakung District, East Jakarta on Wednesday, April 6, noon, at around 12:37 WIB. It was later discovered that the car that caught fire belonged to PO Bus Haryanto.

"We received a report from the terminal that there had been a bus fire at around 12:37 WIB. We deployed two fire engines with 10 personnel," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Gatot Sulaeman to reporters, Wednesday 6 April.

Officers arrived at the location at around 12.38 WIB. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters immediately extinguished the fire.

"The fire was under control at 12:44 WIB and the operation was completed at around 13:10 WIB. The bus driver named Sukardi (54) from PO Haryanto," he said.

As of this writing, officers are still investigating the cause of the bus fire.

"The cause is not yet known, but the owner suffered a loss of around IDR 500 million," he said.

Gatot explained, the fire occurred when the bus was in a state of engine failure and was left by the bus driver. Luckily, there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the incident.

"Suddenly, smoke and fire were seen. There were no casualties in this incident," he concluded.
