After Eating Sahur With Sabar Ahmad, The Governor Of West Sumatra Gives IDR 25 Million House Renovation Assistance

JAKARTA - The Governor of West Sumatra (Sumba), Mahyeldi, eats sahur at the house of Sabar Ahmad (60), an underprivileged resident in Nagari Kampung Baru Korong Nan Ampek, Koto XI Tarusan District, Pesisir Selatan Regency. Mahyeldi used this moment to provide assistance and to directly observe the condition of the residents.

"We visit and see firsthand the condition of the poor, listen to their complaints and aspirations as well as provide assistance," he said in Pesisir Selatan as reported by Antara, Monday, April 4.

The assistance provided includes house renovation with a budget of IDR 25 million. Then help with therapeutic treatment because Sabar Ahmad is suffering from a stroke and can't move normally.

"The condition of Mr. Sabar's house is currently leaking, has no room and no source of clean water. Hopefully, this assistance can provide a more comfortable place to live," he said.

He also hopes that with the therapy that will be attempted, Patience Ahmad's condition can improve and carry out normal activities. "It's a pity that he lives alone, widowed, and in a state of stroke. Hopefully, this assistance will give Mr. Sabar a new spirit," he said.

The visit of the Governor and the Sahur Stopover team to Nagari Kampung Baru Korong Nan Ampek in Koto XI Tarusan District, Pesisir Selatan Regency was unexpected by the surrounding community.

Sabar Ahmad (60) does not even believe that the governor will visit his house as it is. The number one person in West Sumatra and his team also brought boxed rice and fruit for sahur together in a simple room without a partition measuring 4x5 meters.

Sabar Ahmad (60) has suffered a stroke since the last three years. His two wives had been divorced so he had to live alone in his illness.

Occasionally his son who lives in Padang comes to visit. However, due to having to work to earn a living for the family, he could not stay long. His other children are also migrating to Java.

Luckily, there are still relatives willing to help as well as local residents. He was grateful for the assistance of the West Sumatra Provincial Government's Singga Sahur team who would improve the condition of his house.
