Who Is Soully's New Guitarist? Max Cavalera: Secret!

JAKARTA - In an interview with Sofa King Cool Magazine, Max Cavalera was asked who plays guitar in the latest album Soulfly. The follow-up to Ritual (2018) is scheduled to arrive in July.

"We're keeping that a secret now! But, yeah, there must be different people. And I'm really excited. We've already played two new songs on the tour. We played a song called Filth Upon Filth and Superstition, which isn't a cover song, it's a song. original," replied Max, quoted from Blabbermouth, Sunday, April 3.

"The title of this song is the same as another song, Superstition, but it's original. We played it, and it was cool — great reaction from the fans. So I thought they were going to dig a little deeper into our new album. We're just waiting a little longer to get started. released those songs. I think they'll start coming in April.

"We're going to start releasing it on Spotify and Apple Music and Liquid Metal [SiriusXM]. But I'm really excited about this album, and I hope we can go on tour when it comes out, maybe in the summer."

Soulfly previously played Filth Upon Filth on the 2021 summer tour of the United States. In that performance, they were assisted by Fear Factory guitarist, Dino Cazares.

The band's upcoming album was recorded at the Platinum Underground in Phoenix, Arizona with producer Arthur Rizk, who previously worked with Cavalera Conspiracy, Power Trip and Code Orange.

Last summer, Cavalera told "The Metal Teddy Bear Experience," which airs on radio station 90.3 WMSC, that Filth Upon Filth is a "killer song" that reminds him of Slayer-era Hell Awaits mixed with a Soully vibe.

Meanwhile, when asked about the theme of the lyrics of the entire album, Max said that some of them relate to the spiritual world.

"And stuff like that, which is really cool. I think it's always kind of a Soulfly theme. There's a song called Spirit Animal which is really cool. And there will be some guests. I won't say who they are now; I don't want to spoil the surprise. But , once again, there will be some special guests singing on this album."
