Ngurah Rai Airport Serves Doha-Bali Route Flights Again

JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) conveyed that I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport was again serving the Doha-Bali route via Qatar Airways.

"The Doha-Bali route has become a regular international route that I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has returned to serve after it stopped operating since the beginning of the pandemic", said Angkasa Pura I President Director, Faik Fahmi, quoted by Antara, Monday, March 28.

Faik said until now Qatar Airways is the eighth airline that serves regular international flight routes to and from Bali.

On Sunday, March 27 afternoon, Qatar Airways flight QR960 landed in Bali at 17.31 WITA, carrying 222 passengers.

The flight using the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner type aircraft then departed back to Doha on Monday, March 28 early in the morning at 01.27 WITA using flight number QR961, and carried 103 passengers.

According to him, this route also increases the number of international routes served by I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport to six routes, namely Singapore, Melbourne, Sydney, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, and Doha.

AP I welcomes the reopening of the Doha-Bali route with great enthusiasm, considering the potential for additional passenger numbers to increase in the future.

"We are quite optimistic, with the increasing number of regular international flight routes that are back in operation, it will have positive implications for Bali tourism", he said.

It is noted that since the operation of international flight routes at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport on February 3, 2022, until Sunday, March 27, as many as 24,803 passengers and 260 flights of regular international routes have been served.

Starting on March 24, AP I have implemented new international travel rules in line with the issuance of the Decree of the Ministry of Transportation Number 33 of 2022.

"With the enactment of this new rule, we are quite optimistic that there will be an increase in flight traffic and passengers on regular international routes at the airports we manage, especially in Bali, Surabaya, Manado, and Lombok", he said.

He added that the increase in traffic would certainly bring a multiplier effect on the economic recovery and tourism industry in Indonesia in a sustainable manner.

With the enactment of the new rules, it is also possible that other airlines, both international and national airlines, will reopen regular international flight routes, along with the easing of international travel rules.
