Buying NFT Bored Ape For IDR 8.09 Billion, Madonna: Finally Entering The Metaverse

JAKARTA - Pop diva from the United States, Madonna, is reported to have purchased a non-fungible token (NFT) Bored Ape for US$564,000 or equivalent to IDR 8.09 billion. The woman nicknamed the "Queen of Pop" also revealed that she had "entered the Metaverse".

“I have finally entered the Metaverse… My own ape! What should I name him? Thank you (Moonpay). We all need protection from the Evil Eye," Madonna wrote to her Instagram followers.

Madonna bought NFT Bored Ape #4988 on March 25 and announced it through her personal Instagram social media account. According to on-chain data, Bored Ape Madonna #4988 was purchased for 180 ether or IDR 8.09 billion at the time of settlement.

Over the past three days, Madonna's Bored Ape posts received around 88,598 likes. Subsequently, a number of fans gave Madonna suggestions about the newly acquired BAYC name.

"This is funny, I love it," one person wrote to Madonna. “Btw, isn't the Evil Eye just a superstition? No one is evil by nature. I'll name her Pinky," the person added. Another account on Instagram was a little more sarcastic and said “Name him: 'Nobody Will Care About This In 10 years.' FOMO Cabbage Patch Beanie Baby for the 21st century. American rapper, singer, and songwriter Wiz Khalifa leveraged Moonpay to acquire Bored Ape #1506 in the same time frame as Madonna's purchase.
