PDIP Calls Discourse On Postponing Election Unproductive, Hasto: We Should Stop!

JAKARTA - PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto asked all parties not to discuss delaying the 2024 General Election (Pemilu). According to him, this issue is unproductive and therefore does not need to be extended.

"We should stop this unproductive discourse," Hasto told reporters at the PDIP Party School, Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, Monday, March 28.

He emphasized that at this time, there were more important things. One of them is to help and prioritize to solve problems in the community.

After all, the 2024 elections have already been agreed on February 14. Thus, the issue of postponing the election does not need to be discussed anymore

"The elections have been agreed on February 14," he said.

Furthermore, PDIP has also closed discussions related to the 2024 General Election with the National Awakening Party (PKB). This was conveyed in response to the statement of PKB Chairperson Muhaimin Iskandar who claimed to be waiting for a call from PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri. This is because the attitude of the party bearing the bull symbol is firm and they will not lick their own saliva.

"For the postponement of the election, the position of the PDIP is final, the position of the DPR, including the presence of a political party in the DPR, has been finalized on February 14. So it will not lick its own saliva, that must be addressed as good political ethics," he said.

"If Cak Imin wanted to have a relationship with the General Chairwoman, Gus Dur and Syaifullah Yusuf had entrusted this Cak Imin together with Mrs. Mega. So the general chairwoman's dialogue was used to being carried out by Bu Ketum and party ranks," added Hasto.

The discourse on postponing the previous election was conveyed by Cak Imin on Wednesday, February 23. According to Cak Imin, postponing the election is important for the stability of economic recovery due to the pandemic.

Later, PAN also expressed its support for the proposal. Apart from the economy, the party created by Zulkifli Hasan is also considering the global political situation, especially after the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the increasing level of public satisfaction with the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin government.
