East Kalimantan Provincial Government Adds 40 Percent Cooking Oil Stock Ahead Of Ramadan

SAMARINDA - The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan (Kaltim) through the competent authority has increased the stock of cooking oil by 40 percent ahead of Ramadan, because it is based on predictions that demand will increase by between 20-40 percent.

"The average need for East Kalimantan cooking oil is 455 tons per month, but from March to May, it is predicted to increase to 638 tons per month," said Head of the East Kalimantan Province Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) M. Yadi Robyan Noor here. Samarinda, Monday 28 March.

Based on the estimated demand between 20-40 percent per month, then during a meeting with various related parties last month, he took a safe step by increasing the stock by 40 percent so that the stock of cooking oil in East Kalimantan became 3,882 tons.

Quoted by Antara, the stock of 3,882 tons consists of 40 percent bulk cooking oil or around 1,030 tons, while the remaining 2,852 tons are premium cooking oil or packaged cooking oil.

According to him, the stock of 3,882 tons is a quota that is included in two periods, namely on February 14 to March 4, 2022, as many as 1,973 tons, then on March 3-15 2022 as many as 1,908 tons.

If calculated since February 14, the stock of 3,882 tons is believed to be able to meet the needs of more than 5 months or until July, after Eid al-Fitr, so that people are asked not to panic about the presence of cooking oil.

If calculated from February 14 to today (March 28), the stock of cooking oil has decreased by around 957 tons, assuming the highest demand reaches 638 tons per month, so that currently cooking oil stocks are still around 2,925 tons.

For this reason, residents are asked not to panic and not to take wholesale actions, because they will also carry out market operations when instability occurs, including market operations several times recently and plans for more market operations, especially during the upcoming Ramadan.

"From the start, the governor (Governor of East Kalimantan Isran Noor) emphasized to us that people should not have difficulty obtaining basic needs, including cooking oil, so what we are doing is helping the governor in serving the community," he said.
