Tolitoli Regent, Central Sulawesi Determines Emergency Response Status For Nanjir And Landslides

PALU - The Regent of Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) Amran Yahya has declared an emergency response status for floods and landslides.

The decision was taken following floods and landslides that occurred in a number of sub-districts due to high rainfall accompanied by strong winds and flashes of lightning from Tuesday (22/3) to Wednesday (23/3) covering Baolan District, Galang District, Dakopamean District and Sub-District. North Tolitoli.

"Floods have resulted in the submergence of residential areas, damage to road and bridge infrastructure, as well as community clean water facilities. Therefore, it is necessary to establish an emergency response status for floods and landslides," said Amran Yahya, quoted by Antara, Friday, March 25.

In addition, said Amran, the decision was taken by taking into account the warnings of the Tolitoli Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) regarding the vigilance of heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and strong winds for the entire Tolitoli Regency area.

"The emergency response status for floods and landslides lasts for 28 days, starting from March 24 to April 20, 2022," he said.

Since the disaster occurred on Wednesday, March 23, the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) of the Republic of Indonesia through the Directorate of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims (PSKBA) has distributed logistical assistance to disaster-affected areas in Tolitoli.

The assistance distributed was in the form of ready-to-eat food for infants, toddlers and adults, drinking water, kitchen utensils, baby and toddler equipment, mattresses, tents, mattresses, and blankets.
