Coordinating Minister Airlangga Leads Indonesia To Explore Clean Energy Trade With Singapore
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that the government has been in close communication with Singapore to explore the potential for cooperation in the new renewable energy (EBT) sector and the use of clean water supply technology.
According to Airlangga, Indonesia has a great opportunity to become an important supplier of environmentally friendly energy to Singapore.
"Data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia has the potential to generate up to 418 GW of EBT from water, geothermal, wind and solar resources," he said in a press statement, Thursday, March 24 when receiving a visit from Singapore's Development Minister Desmond Lee in Jakarta.
For information, currently, the neighboring countries in ASEAN are intensively carrying out green development for the next 10 to 15 years. Meanwhile, some of the facilities established are green building, green infrastructure, and investment in research and development, in addition to mitigating food and energy scarcity.

Furthermore, the two ministers also discussed efforts to accelerate development and investment in the Kendal Industrial Estate (KIK) in Central Java.
Airlangga said KIK was a strategic opportunity to open more jobs and increase export potential, especially to Singapore.
"With the revitalization of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo), it is hoped that it can accelerate economic activity in KIK," he said.
Airlangga, who is also the Chairman of the Committee for Handling the Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN), said that Minister Lee, representing Singapore, plans to directly see the construction of KIK in Kendal.
"Minister Lee is of the view that vocational education and training facilities are needed to increase the human resource capacity of the local community in Kendal in order to support KIK," Airlangga concluded.
