Fugitive Corruption Hospital Project In Bone Arrested
MAKASSAR - The Fugitive Arrest Team (Tabur) of the South Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office has arrested Sony Putra Samapta, a convict in a corruption case in the construction of the Tenriawaru Regional General Hospital (RSUD), Bone Regency. The convict has been on the run for four years after being convicted.
"We received information that the convict was in Jakarta, then a team was sent from here to pick him up there with the cooperation of the Jakarta MC (Monitoring Center) to track his whereabouts. After being arrested, he was immediately taken away, we took him into custody," said Head of Penkum Kejati South Sulawesi, Soetarmi told reporters in Makassar reported by Antara, Wednesday, March 23.
The arrest of the fugitive corruptor was carried out after the coordination of the Bone District Attorney's Office which asked the South Sulawesi Attorney's Office for assistance.
Sony's presence was finally detected on Monday, March 21 in Jakarta. The integrated team immediately took action to arrest the convicts. Furthermore, on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, the convict was then taken to Makassar to be handed over to the Bone Prosecutor's Office.
"We will fly it to Makassar, then it will be handed over to the Kejari Bone and the Head of the Kajari will be picked up by the Head of Special Investigations Unit for execution (the verdict)," said Soetarmi.
The convict was sentenced to five years guilty by the Supreme Court (MA) after an appeal. Sony is a convict in the corruption case of the Building Development and Renovation Program and the Procurement of Medical Devices or the corruption of a fictitious credit for the Tenriawaru Hospital project, Bone Regency in the 2011 fiscal year.
"For his activities, the ceiling value is Rp. 24 billion, after the calculation it turns out that the loss value is Rp. 2 billion. The Supreme Court's decision is five years in prison, and he has been on the run since 2018. The convict is the executor of the activity or a third party," he said.
Based on the decision of the Supreme Court Number 2866 K/PID.SUS/2017 dated April 23, 2018, Sony was legally and convincingly declared guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption together.
In addition to the prison sentence, the convict is subject to a fine of IDR 200 million, a subsidiary of six months in prison.
The convict was also sentenced to an additional criminal penalty of paying compensation of Rp.2,050 billion. If the replacement money is not paid within one month after the decision, the prosecutor's assets will be confiscated to be auctioned to cover the replacement money. If the assets are not sufficient, they are sentenced to two years in prison.
