In Front Of Sri Mulyani, Hotman Paris Admits That He Is Confused About The 200 Percent Tax Fine: I Can't Sleep
JAKARTA - Famous Indonesian lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea said that the Voluntary Disclosure Program (PPS) in the national taxation system provides many opportunities for taxpayers (WP) to be able to declare assets that have not been disclosed.
According to him, this facility provides lower tariffs for participants. However, on the other hand, some sanctions are ready to be applied to taxpayers if they are found to be absent and reluctant to report their assets.
"The 200 percent sanction makes me unable to sleep", he said during a discussion which was also attended by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Wednesday, March 23.
For this reason, Hotman plans to immediately fulfill his obligations to the state by participating in the PPS agenda this time.
"So maybe soon I will meet Mr. Edi Slamet (Head of the North Jakarta Regional Tax Office), I want to take part in the second TA (tax amnesty) again", he said.
To note, the first volume of the tax amnesty took place from July 2016 to April 2017 as a tax facility for citizens who have not disclosed their acquired assets. At that time, the levy imposed was lower than the normal rate.
Meanwhile, this facility is intended to increase the potential for tax revenue and increase public awareness to contribute to the development of the country through the contribution of tax payments.
VOIR éGALEMENT:
Until March 23, 2022, at 08.00, PPS or commonly referred to as the second volume of tax amnesty, has recorded the number of participants reaching 26,860 WP. From this figure, 30,521 certificates were obtained with the number of assets disclosed amounting to IDR 38.8 trillion.
The value consists of the declaration of domestic assets and repatriation of IDR 33.8 trillion, foreign declaration of IDR 2.6 trillion, and investment of IDR 2.4 trillion.
Meanwhile, the net value that goes into the state treasury in the form of Income Tax (PPh) from taxpayers is IDR 4 trillion.
To note, this year's PPS targets taxpayer assets on a 2016 to 2020 basis that have not been reported.
Three different levies are applied here, namely 6 percent, 8 percent, and 11 percent. PPS 2022 itself is held for six months from January 1 to June 30. If the taxpayer does not participate in this program, the potential for imposition of fines for assets that have not been reported can reach 200 percent.
