Welcoming The 2024 General Election, Central Kalimantan Provincial Government Gives Political Education To Its Citizens

KALTENG - The Provincial Government of Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) welcomes the 2024 General Election by trying to increase the role of the community in providing political education.

"We want the public to be a critical subject in making political choices," said Expert Staff to the Governor of Central Kalimantan for Government, Law, and Politics Herson B. Aden when contacted in Muara Teweh, North Barito Regency, Tuesday, March 22.

In addition, he said, the community is expected to be a driving force for political maturity to fight for people's aspirations so that they are not only objects in a democratic party.

Herson said this activity was an effort between the provincial government and the district government to increase the role of the community in democracy in welcoming the 2024 general election.

"This is an implementation of the spirit of Pancasila values and the 1945 Constitution," he said, quoted by Antara.

He explained that the government has an obligation to foster politics in the regions so that people are expected to participate in creating better political conditions.

Elections are one of the pillars of democracy and a method of changing the political elite, which includes legislative elections, presidential/vice-presidential elections, to regional head elections.

"The role of the community, figures, and others in every political stage is very decisive," he explained.

The intended role, he said, is to exercise the right to vote according to one's conscience, reject money politics, prevent, and tackle SARA and hoax issues so that the democratic party will be more orderly, safe, and conducive.

Voters' participation in Central Kalimantan in the 2019 Pilkada was 77.5 percent and this achievement is above the national target. It is hoped that the 2024 election voter participation will increase.

Moreover, in 2024, he said, the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government together with the North Barito Regency Government held the first two major government agendas, including the legislative elections, presidential elections, gubernatorial elections, and regional elections.

For this reason, his party wants the national political education to be optimized in order to add insight in building political maturity towards honest and fair elections.
