SURABAYA - The city of Surabaya, East Java, is the only big city in Indonesia that has entered Level 1. With this status, several public spaces in Surabaya have been relaxed by 100 percent.

Acting Head of the Surabaya City Disaster Management Agency (Regional), Ridwan Mubarun, said the areas allowed with 100 percent capacity were malls, restaurants, places of worship, parks, cinemas and supermarkets.

"Specifically for supermarkets and hypermarts, the operational hours will still be discussed further. As for malls and shopping and trade centers, they can be opened until 22.00 WIB," said Ridwan, in Surabaya, Tuesday, March 22.

Meanwhile, for face-to-face learning (PTM) 100 percent, Ridwan admitted that he would still discuss it further with related parties. "For the city of Surabaya, it's still 50 percent PTM. Since it's already level 1, then later we will hold a meeting with experts, to ask for opinions whether it can be held 100 percent or what, we will meet it first," he said.

Although Surabaya level 1 and health protocols in various fields are relaxed, Ridwan hopes that the residents of Surabaya City will remain disciplined in the health program. "So, even though we are level 1, let's maintain the process, the simplest procedure is that we continue to wear masks," he said.

According to him, thanks to the discipline of the residents of Surabaya, finally the City of Surabaya has PPKM level 1. This is based on the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 18 of 2022 concerning the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) Level 4, Level 3, Level 2, Level 1 in the Java region. and Bali.

"Alhamdulillah, Surabaya now has PPKM Level 1 status, effective from March 22 to April 4, 2022. The only big city in Indonesia that has entered level 1. This is something to be grateful for because this is very extraordinary," he said.
