Moeldoko: IKN Development Needs Support, Not Debate
JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff, Moeldoko, said the transfer of the national capital to the National Capital (IKN) Nusantara is final and does not need to be debated.
He reminded that this decision was taken by the government together with the Indonesian House of Representatives which was realized by Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the State Capital (IKN).
"The transfer of the IKN is final. Let's put aside differences to realize this great dream", said Moeldoko in a written statement, Thursday, March 17.
Moeldoko said the decision to move the country's capital city had also gone through a long process, starting from discussions, passing laws to the establishment of the IKN Authority. Not only that, various derivative regulations have been prepared as a legal basis and reference for implementation in the field.
So, instead of arguing, the public is asked to provide support. This is actually more needed so that the transfer process can work optimally in the midst of the crush of time.
"IKN development needs support, not debate. This is a matter of building a world city for the sake of advanced Indonesia", he stressed.
Moeldoko also explained that the relocation of the country's capital was carried out to overcome the problem of inequality in Java and outside Java.
In addition, continued Moeldoko, the transfer of IKN is also an answer to future challenges, especially facing the threat of global warming which has a serious impact on the environment and social conditions. Moreover, this city will be built with the concept of a smart forest city.
"Once again, let's think about the future. Don't let us bequeath an Indonesia full of disasters and leave ignorance about the future of the next generation", he said.

Furthermore, the former TNI Commander also talked about the polemic of land status in the IKN area. Moeldoko ensured that the Presidential Staff Office together with the Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry would accelerate the settlement systematically and synergistically.
The goal is that there will be no agrarian problems in the future. "We (KSP) together with the Ministry of ATR/BPN and the Ministry of LHK have experience in accelerating the resolution of agrarian conflicts. So there is no need to worry about that anymore", said Moeldoko.
“The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) is also committed to overseeing IKN development through the acceleration and debottlenecking process. One of the things that we will oversee is to ensure the implementation of good governance, to prevent corruption, and to build integrity in the entire IKN development process", he concluded.
