Luhut Highlights The Decline In Central Java's COVID-19 Death Rate Is Still Slow

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, highlighted the slow decline in the death rate of COVID-19 cases in Central Java.

The slow decline in the death rate in Central Java still occurs when Indonesia has experienced a national decline in confirmed cases and deaths.

"The government is paying more attention to the rate of decline in the death rate, which is running quite slowly, especially in the Central Java region", Luhut said in a virtual press conference, Monday, March 14.

Luhut revealed that the death rate for COVID-19 cases in Central Java had decreased quite slowly due to the large number of COVID-19 patients who had not been vaccinated and had comorbidities.

"For this reason, I once again remind people who have comorbidities or the elderly to be treated at the hospital if they are positive for COVID-19", he said.

It was recorded that as of March 14, 2021, Central Java had an additional 920 new cases with an accumulation of 610,985 cases. Meanwhile, the number of recovered cases per day is 3,235 people with a total of 550,943 people recovering. Then, there was an increase of 63 deaths for a total of 32,095 deaths.

In addition, Luhut also revealed that the government has extended the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Java-Bali for the next week, from March 15 to 21.

Luhut said, currently more and more people are experiencing a decline in the PPKM level assessment to Level 2.

"Along with the decrease in cases, the number of regencies/cities entering Level 2 based on this week's assessment has increased. Detailed decisions regarding this will be contained in the Inmendagri which will be issued today", said Luhut.
