Welcoming The Expansion Of The Central Mountains Of Papua, Lanny Jaya Regent: Don't Suspect Each Other
JAKARTA - The Central Government plans to expand the expansion of the Central Highlands Papua region. The Regent of Lanny Jaya, Befa Yigibalom, welcomed the government's plan to implement it.
"Today, I and several associate regents, especially the Yahukimo Regent Didimus Yahuli, met with the Legislative Body (Baleg) of the DPR regarding the development of the Provincial Expansion Bill, especially the Central Highlands Province of Papua," Befa said in a written statement, Wednesday evening, March 9, quoted from Between.
According to Befa, from the information he received, the bill will soon be ratified where there will be a plenary session and the next trial in the DPR will be continued.
"This year, it is estimated that the Central Mountains Papua Province will be born along with other provinces on Earth of Cenderawasih," he said.
He explained, for this reason, all intellectuals in Papua, especially in the Central Highlands of Papua, are expected to close ranks and welcome the Central Mountains Papua Province, as for the pros and cons, it is okay, but the best study must be carried out.
"As a good citizen, avoid all negative thoughts and welcome this well," he hoped.
He added that the presence of a new province must be seen from a broader framework, therefore one should not think narrowly, suspect each other or make scapegoats and so on.
"However, it must be seen with a good eye that the Central Government provides expansion for the development and welfare of the Papuan people," he said.
As is known, the government has set a moratorium policy on the expansion of New Autonomous Regions (DOB) since 2014 until now. However, the issuance of Law (UU) No. 2/2021 on the second amendment to Law No. 21/2001 on Special Autonomy for Papua Province actually mandates the formation of new regions in the Papua region.
Where the plan is that there will be three draft laws (RUU) regulating the expansion of new autonomous regions in Papua, namely the Bill on the Province of Central Papua, the Bill on the Province of Papua in the Central Mountains, and the Bill on the Province of South Papua.
