Russia Agrees To Ceasefire In Mariupol And Volnovakha But Only For 5 Hours
JAKARTA - Russia and Ukraine have finally agreed to a temporary ceasefire in the two cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha for five hours. Russia promised to stop shooting and allow the civilians in the city to leave immediately.
This is perhaps the good news in the last ten days as Vladimir Putin begins his full-scale operations in Ukraine.
Civilians in the two cities were allowed to leave the location. Civilians will be allowed to leave Mariupol, between 12:00 and 17:00 Moscow time, according to the BBC.
But in other cities, fighting was still going on, Saturday 5 March.
Russia previously said its troops, which had surrounded the Sea of Azov port city in southern Ukraine, would stop firing and let civilians pass.
"Today, March 5, the Russian side declared the regime silent and opened humanitarian corridors for the exit of civilians from Mariupol and Volnovakha," the Russian defense ministry said.
