PKB Denies Discourse On Postponing Election Luhut Pure Idea From Cak Imin
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the PKB, Jazilul Fawaid, denied that the proposed postponement of the 2024 election was an instruction from the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. He emphasized that the discourse on postponing the election that was conveyed by PKB General Chair Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin was purely his party's proposal.
Jazilul said his statement was to straighten out various reports about the discourse on postponing the 2024 General Election. Cak Imin proposed this after receiving aspirations from the public.
"It's not because of anyone's instructions, Pak Luhut or anyone else, it's purely from Gus Muhaimin," said Jazilul, Friday, February 4. According to the Deputy Chair of the MPR, until now there has been no communication with the government or the president regarding the proposed postponement of the 2024 election. He also emphasized that the proposal has nothing to do with President Joko Widodo. And indeed this proposal has nothing to do with the President," said Jazilul.
Previously, the Deputy of Bappilu DPP for the Democratic Party, Kamhar Lakumani, said that the proposed postponement of the 2024 election and the extension of the presidential term would not die automatically, even though the majority of the public and political parties (political parties) refused. “Reflecting on the past, even though it has received high resistance, this discourse is still being put forward by parties who are close to or are part of the circle of power. It is read that this is systematic and by design,” said Kamhar, Friday, March 4.
Moreover, said Kamhar, there is information that mentions the name of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Panjaitan or LBP behind the proposed postponement of the 2024 election. If the information is true, then the proposal will continue to roll out. "Especially if the information circulating is true, that the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries LBP is behind this, in conditioning the chairman of political parties, then this discourse and agenda may continue to be carried out," he said.
